On Friday, October 23, 2009, the U. Are Halloween party will bring “The Shining” inspired theme, pre-Halloween mayhem to Hotel Utica. Live music and DJs spinning late night will accompany all night drink specials, sound and video installations, theatrics, a 50/50 raffle, and a costume contest.
U. Are Halloween will transform the allegedly haunted Hotel Utica into “The Overlook”, the famed fictional Hotel featured both in Stephen King’s novel/miniseries, and Stanley Kubrick’s film, “The Shining”. For one night, the weekend before Halloween, bring your “shine” and celebrate with local and national talent. We are creating our city, come create yours!
Nationally renowned dub/reggae, Royal Heart Sound; debuts and reunions by members of Love Scene Clear; spirited hard-rocking band, Outlaw Mystic; progressive ambient hip/hop with a.m. breakups performing cant resurrection, starring Eleven, Billy Woods, Teddy Faley, and V8; weaving it all together is house DJ, Nick D.; dark and spooky drums and bass, Isis; closing the show, local spinner who packs the dance floor, DJ Da Lockz.
