A.M. Breakups
A.M. Breakups is Marris Mielnick, an electronic musician and producer from Utica, NY. As A.M. Breakups, Mielnick works and performs with an array of alternative hip-hop artists. Mielnick melds the lyric work from these artists into almost ambient beats, giving his tracks a distinct flavor of dub-step style music. In anticipation of his latest album release, “Cant Resurrection”, Mielnick will bring several of the artists he works with to the U. Are Halloween party. Featured both on “Cant Resurrection” and performing live are Eleven of New York, NY, whom previously worked with Mielnick on an EP entitled “Free”, Billy Woods of Brooklyn, NY, head spokesman for record label Backwoodz Studioz, V8 of Chicago, IL, and Teddy Faley with touring DJ, DJ Addikt both of Baltimore, MD.
Royal Heart Sound
Royal Heart Sound is an ensemble complete with culture DJs bringing an authentic Jamaican dance hall experience to the masses. This sound system has played with the likes of Lee “Scratch” Perry, Culture, Taurus Riley, The Wailers, and InnerVision. Royal Heart Sound will bring a spirited roots and dub showcase to the U. Are Halloween party.
Mellow Paws
The U. Are Halloween Party will also bring back Mellow Paws. Performing to a small hardcore fan base in the early ‘90s, Mellow Paws will bring the experience back in a reconfigured reunion to Hotel Utica on the 23rd. Described as “trancen-delic”, Mellow Paws is a punk-rock inspired spirited kickback with big choruses and bigger bass lines.
Darling Vendetta
Debuting at the U. Are Halloween party is Darling Vendetta. Darling Vendetta consists of local musicians Christian Lewandowski on bass, Dave Snediker on drums, and Chris Cooley on guitar. Set up in a traditionally classic trio, their sound is that of punk-rock influenced by pop sensibilities.
DJ Da Lockz
Manolack Vongsouvanh, a.k.a. DJ Da Lockz, has been on the music scene for over 10 years. Inspired by his brother DJ Monolo, he went and got a set of turntables and never looked back. DJ Da Lockz started off with Vibrant Soundz Productions in 1999 spinning progressive trance. In 2008 DJ Da Lockz decided to go independent, and now he’s rocking clubs and packing dance floors with electro house, min, tek, trance and dirty house. DJ Da Lockz has also produced and wrote a track with local musician Joe Sweet for the band Brand New Sin entitled “I Feel For You”. His new label with partner DJ Rerocco/Bloodline Music, “Off The Record Recordings”, is coming soon.
